Piano and orchestra in passionate dialogue
Prokofiev & Schumann

Tonight we bring a delightful combination of playful and sharp, flashy and delicate. At the piano is the wonderful young soloist Isata Kanneh-Mason. Isata is part of the Kanneh-Mason family, an extraordinarily musical family, all seven of whose children are talented musicians - including cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason. Isata has previously performed the Third Piano Concerto by Sergei Prokofiev, rebel and innovator. Then at the BBC, now with the Residentie Orkest. A broad and rhythmic concerto: shaky, galloping, but also colorful and sparkling. An exceptionally exciting meeting of talent and technique.
Tonight you will also hear Schumann's Fourth Symphony, originally a loving birthday present for his beloved Clara, when life was still carefree: a dazzling and dramatic masterpiece. And then Die schöne Melusine by Felix Mendelssohn. An overture with a beautiful fairy-tale opening. The German conductor Ruth Reinhardt returns to The Hague tonight. She juxtaposes her energy, precision and deep insights with the talents of Isata Kanneh-Mason. This promises to be an unforgettable evening.
