Celebrating traditions and new beginnings
Prinsjesdag Concert
This concert is part of the Symphonic Friday - Large series.
Prinsjesdag (Prince's Day) is the day on which the King of the Netherlands officially opens the parliamentary year. It's a day to celebrate traditions as well as new beginnings. This 75th anniversary of the Prinsjesdag Concert will see the grand introduction of our artist in residence for 2024-2025: cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras. Join us in celebrating the opening of a season full of musical promise!
Our collaboration with Queyras, a world-renowned cellist, promises a magnificent and unforgettable start to the season. Tonight, he will enchant us with Dvořák's Cello Concerto. This composition blends Slavic influences with American flavours – a unique and enthralling combination for musicians and audience alike. Tonight also marks the debut of the young, talented British conductor Kerem Hasan. We look forward to hearing his fresh and dynamic interpretations. Hasan will guide you through the romantic and tragic emotions of Tchaikovsky's Overture Fantasy, inspired by Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. This is a concert not only to be heard but also seen, felt and experienced.
