Let's ring in the New Year with some of the very best that opera has to offer. Prepare to be captivated by unparalleled vocal performances in works by the great masters: Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Richard Strauss and Johann Strauss. This is Italian passion combined with drama, finesse and vibrant Viennese polka fireworks. Tonight, the soloists, together with the Residentie Orkest, will make your champagne glasses bubble over with excitement. 

From rich arias to dynamic vocal contrasts and expressive melodies, the Italian masters of opera knew how to keep audiences glued to their seats. That's why we've invited England's greatest dramatic opera singer to The Hague – the expressive richness of soprano Claire Rutter's voice is unforgettable. Tonight, we'll also welcome to our stage for the first time Leslie Suganandarajah, chief conductor of the Salzburg State Theatre. He will elevate the stage with his natural charisma, energy and sensitivity. There's no better way to start the new year!
