We celebrate the New Year with the pearls of opera. You'll hear unprecedented voice during pieces by the great masters: Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Richard Strauss and Johann Strauss. This is Italian passion, combined with drama, finesse and festive Viennese polka-dazzle. That evening, the soloists, along with the Residentie Orkest, make the champagne bubbles extra fizzy. 

The richness of the arias, the contrasts in the vocal registers, the expressive melodies - the Italian grand masters of opera know how to keep audiences glued to their seats. That's why we invited England's finest, dramatic operatic voice to The Hague: soprano Claire Rutter's expressive richness is unforgettable. Moreover, tonight we welcome for the first time Leslie Suganandarajah, chief conductor of the Salzburg Landtheater. Suganandarajah is a natural communicator who brings great charisma, energy and sensitivity to his performances, both on the symphonic and opera stage. The new year couldn't begin any better!
