Shunske Sato back at the Residentie Orkest
Classics in the Nieuwe Kerk

Atmospheric, subdued, intimate. A concert in the Nieuwe Kerk will stay with you forever. The phenomenal acoustics give the Residentie Orkest 's chamber music concerts an extra dimension. Join us on an uninterrupted journey past beautifully sounding musical works in a historic setting. Each concert features a special musical theme. Tonight, top violinist Shunske Sato returns to the Residentie Orkest with Viennese classics by Haydn and Beethoven.
A little composer used to travel to Vienna. The place to be for musicians. Music history was written there for centuries. For example by Haydn who spent an important part of his musical life in Vienna. His dramatic cantata Arianna a Naxos even opened the doors to London. Cherubini came to Vienna by invitation, met Haydn and Beethoven and received a commission for an opera. Although enthusiastically received, Faniska did not become a keeper although the overture is delightfully sparkling and energetic. Finally, the versatile Shunske Sato brings Beethoven's sprightly Second Symphony: compelling, grand and full of surprises.
