Unfortunately, this concert has already taken place. But not to worry! We will be playing many more concerts soon.

During RO NOW you will be introduced to masterpieces and give your weekend a special twist. Each edition, the conductor briefly tells you more about the music, illustrated with examples by the orchestra. Afterwards you can linger in the foyer where live music plays and the beers are cold. The first drinks are ours!

An evening full of surprises
Tonight you will witness a premiere in The Hague! Mathilde Wantenaar wrote for the Residentie Orkest and the Dutch accordionist Vincent van Amsterdam's Concerto for accordion and orchestra. The versatile Dutch composer wrote operas, concertos, orchestral works and for singers and choirs. Her style? Lyrical, enchanting and eclectic. Her goal? Touching people with her music. Chief conductor Anja Bihlmaier then takes you on a journey through the dazzling music of Stravinsky's ballet Petrushka. The ballet is based on a Russian folk tale about love and jealousy. Powerful, colourful music, which is rock solid even without ballet.

This concert is in collaboration with Festival Dag in de Branding.

As part of Festival Dag in de Branding , Carine Lacor of NPO Klassiek talks to Mathilde Wantenaar and two other composers to find out what moves them. This conversation will take place at 7.15 p.m. in Amare (the Swing, to the left of the cloakroom) prior to the concert.
