Unfortunately, this concert has already taken place. But not to worry! We will be playing many more concerts soon.

The gripping passion and death story of Jesus Christ. Of the Last days of the son of God as a mortal on earth. Bach's world-famous St. Matthew Passion is a timeless monumental work about faith, betrayal, faithfulness, self-sacrifice, love and forgiveness. Universal themes with which Bach creates Matthäus madness every year and thrills many. With tonight an absolute specialist of the St. Matthew Passion for the Residentie Orkest: our regular guest conductor Richard Egarr.

Richard Egarr is the connoisseur of choral works by Bach. He participated in many performances of the St. Matthew Passion, and also recorded a CD of the passion narrative. Tonight he conducts our orchestra, a cast of star soloists, the Netherlands Chamber Choir and the boys' voices of the Hague Matrozen Choir. The Silent Saturday before Easter is thus complete.

"Bach's world-famous St. Matthew Passion is a timeless monumental work about faith, betrayal, loyalty, self-sacrifice, love and forgiveness."
