Unfortunately, this concert has already taken place. But not to worry! We will be playing many more concerts soon.

The Residentie Orkest accompanies the finalists of the prestigious Oskar Back Prize of the Dutch Violin Competition 2024. All their temperament and virtuosity can be unleashed by the young violin magicians in Mendelssohn's beloved Violin Concerto and Lalo's fiery Symphonie espagnole. The excitement of the finale adds an extra dimension to this special concert, where the audience not only enjoys the Residentie Orkest, but at the same time discovers the future world's top violinists as their careers sprout.

The biennial Dutch Violin Competition with the Oskar Back Prize for violinists aged 17-26, is one of the most important music competitions in the Netherlands. More than 55 years ago, the very first edition took place. The Oskar Back Prize is held in honor of the renowned Hungarian-Dutch music educator Oskar Back. The list of former winners is very impressive. In the past, top violinists such as Emmy Verhey, Jaap van Zweden, Daniel Rowland and Liza Ferschtman already wrote the first prize to their names.

Winning the Oskar Back Prize gives an enormous boost to the career of many young violinists. Who will soon be the successor to violinist Isobel Warmelink, winner of 2022?
