Top cellist meets our chief conductor
Bihlmaier meets Queyras
Unfortunately, this concert has already taken place. But not to worry! We will be playing many more concerts soon.
Sometimes you are proud when you can count someone among your friends. Cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras is such a true friend. Our friendship began during the Cello Biennale and strengthened when he took office at one of our first concerts at Amare. Tonight it is time for a first acquaintance between the grand master and our chief conductor Anja Bihlmaier. Two great names of the same generation find each other in one of the most beautiful cello concertos: Henri Dutilleux's Cello Concerto.
Thirty years ago, the French composer's Cello Concerto was last heard in The Hague. An ethical, spherical musical painting that Jean-Guihen Queyras will bring to life with differentiation in timbre. The cellist received the Anner Bijlsma Award in 2022. The concert ends with Schumann's Fourth Symphony, originally a loving birthday present for his beloved Clara, when life was still carefree. Anja Bihlmaier presides over a dazzling, dramatic masterpiece.
