On his father's violin, Robert Thousand plays and tells the impressive story of his parents who survived the Holocaust. 

"How can you love trains so much after all you went through in the war?" Robert's father was still sometimes asked that. After all, he had been taken by train to Camp Westerbork and from there, again by train, deported to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. Fortunately, he also managed to survive the Last transport of the Nazis, which was stranded near Tröbitz. 

Robert also tells of his mother who was in hiding during the first years of the war. Later she had the courage to work as a nurse with a fake diploma in a hospital that was under the control of the Nazis. 

 "The poignant music carries you into the story, as if you were stepping into a movie," Robert said. "This helps to pass on my parents' story to future generations in the best possible way. What they experienced shows what anti-Semitism, exclusion and discrimination can lead to. Even today!" 

A compelling family story of courage and hope that manages to touch students (musically). 

Presentation at school 

This performance will take place at your school. The musicians will be present in the classroom in time to set up all supplies. All of our musicians have a VOG. School teachers are expected to attend the performance.
