The Residentie Orkest has an immediate vacancy for a:
Tutti Viola (75%)

The position
As a tutti player, in addition to excellent artistic and technical playing skills, you bring an open and welcoming attitude. Every week a production is prepared and performed. Your place within the group rotates per production. You are also available for (educational and social) activities and performances in smaller groups. 

Job Requirements
It goes without saying that you stand out as a viola player and possess excellent skills as an orchestral and ensemble musician. We expect you to always be well prepared on stage and to uphold the professional etiquette that goes with it.  

For us it is essential that every colleague acts as an ambassador for our orchestra, and in addition to collective stage activities, cooperate in outreach and educational activities and productions in ensemble settings. We are searching for a positive and engaged team player who can strike the right balance between individuality and the collective.  

Application and Procedure
We would like to receive your application in the form of a fully completed application form by April 30, 2023. A reference to a representative video is a plus, especially for candidates we do not yet know.  

The auditions for this position will take place on Tuesday, June 6 (preliminary and first round) and Wednesday afternoon, June 7 (final round) 2023. Required works: 

  • Schubert: Arpeggione Sonata, 1st movement 

  • Own choice of Walton's Viola Concerto (1st movement) or Hindemith's Schwanendreher (1st movement) 

  • Bach: Sarabande from 1st or 2nd Cello Suite  

  • Mozart: Duo for violin and viola in G major KV 423, 1st movement (in the finale, to be performed with a member of the Residentie Orkest) 

  • Orchestral parts to be determined, one of which will be played together with one of the captains in the finals
