'Anja Bihlmaier sets Residentie Orkest on fire'

On the weekend of May 20 and 22, Residentie Orkest played Verdi's unsurpassed Messa da Requiem twice. According to newspaper Trouw a 'thrilling Verdi' in the new Concert Hall in The Hague Amare. 'The stylish Bihlmaier held things together superbly and happily exaggerated Verdi's dynamic cues somewhere. [...] Remarkable how the youthful Laurens Symphonic choir responded to Bihlmaier. The effort and commitment of this partly amateur choir, well drilled by Wiecher Mandemaker, sounded extremely professional. Among the four fine soloists, soprano Guanqun Yu and bass Milan Siljanov stood out in particular. And Bihlmaier set the orchestra on fire with her personality and infectious approach."
