Residentie Orkest Transvaal 2026 party leader debate

Transvaal and Schilderswijk at the center of political discussions

In the run-up to the 2026 municipal elections, Transvaal and Schilderswijk will take center stage during a closed party leader debate on February 10, 2026. The debate will bring together residents, entrepreneurs, social organizations, and political party leaders to discuss the future of these neighborhoods in The Hague.

Diversity
Transvaal and Schilderswijk are characterized by great diversity, a strong local economy, and active social initiatives. At the same time, there are structural issues in the areas of housing, quality of life, employment, and safety. This combination makes the neighborhoods an important focus of The Hague's urban policy.

Long-term commitment
The municipality has designated both neighborhoods as official investment areas, with the aim of enabling targeted improvements. This status underlines the importance of long-term commitment and coherent policy. With the municipal elections of March 18, 2026, in sight, the debate is intended to provide insight into how political parties want to continue and strengthen this commitment.
The party leader debate provides an opportunity for direct dialogue between politicians and representatives from the neighborhoods. The focus will be on questions about long-term vision, available resources, and cooperation between the municipality and local parties. The debate will not only look at existing problems, but also at opportunities and initiatives that are already into the city .

Classical music and hip hop
A special element of the evening will be the musical contribution of the Residentie Orkest, which is collaborating with the Haags Hiphop Centrum. The combination of classical music and hip hop forms an integral part of the program and marks transitions in the debate. Music is used to reflect on the themes discussed and as a connecting element between the different perspectives at the table.
With the closed party leader debate, the organizers want to contribute to a careful and substantive discussion about the future of Transvaal and the Schilderswijk. The evening is focused on sharing insights, identifying priorities, and strengthening the dialogue between the city and politics in the run-up to the formation of a new city council in 2026.
