One Minute Symphony from

Hidde Kramer

In the One Minute Symphony project, composition students from the Royal Conservatoire The Hague take to the streets to make contact with a resident of The Hague or are inspired by a location or a work of art somewhere in the city. The students write a one-minute symphony about this encounter, which is played by us a short time later. A personal story transformed into music. That is only possible at Residentie Orkest.

"To contrast a Christian tradition with an Eastern one. That would be interesting."

- Hidde Kramer

Composition student Hidde Kramer sought inspiration for his One Minute Symphony at the Art Museum. Here he spoke to Doede Hardeman, Head of Collections at the museum about Paul Elie Ranson's work "Christ and Buddha. Hidde found it interesting how he looks at the painting and how people did it at the time. The worlds and faiths brought together in the painting that do not fit together, yet merge is something Hidde may incorporate into his composition.

Follow the process

Hidde likes to show how the creative process goes while composing this One Minute Symphony. From first meeting to the Last note, you can follow it in a series of short vlogs.
