Hague Women's Days 2025

On the occasion of The Hague Women's Day 2025 and International Women's Day, TransitionCinema, together with the Residentie Orkest and Alfa Wave, is organizing the screening of the documentary Knowing the Score on March 7.

Knowing the Score is a biopic about Australian conductor Simone Young, an inspiring, brilliant woman who made it to the top in a man's world with her wit, determination, sense of humor and baton. New York, London, Berlin, Vienna, Simone Young conquered them all. The girl from Manly Beach, now a woman with so many firsts to her name, is fed up with the whole "woman" title that haunts her.
Knowing the Score, produced by Academy Award-winner and 2023 Golden Globe-winner for Tár Cate Blanchett, chronicles the career of an extraordinary conductor, her challenges and triumphs, past, present and into the future.

Alexandra Bons (violin) and Jieun Kim (viola) of the Residentie Orkest will play a program of works by women composers prior to the film. This musical preliminary program and film are free of charge. Check here for more information and the entire program.
