The One Minute Symphony of

Esther Wu

In the One Minute Symphony project, composition students from the Royal Conservatoire The Hague take to the streets to make contact with a resident of The Hague or are inspired by a location or a work of art somewhere in the city. The students write a one-minute symphony about this encounter, which is played by us a short time later. A personal story transformed into music. That is only possible at Residentie Orkest.

"The biggest challenge I find is to capture the essence of Monet in a minute," he said.

Hong Kong-based composition student Esther Wu sought inspiration for her One Minute Symphony at the Art Museum. Here she spoke to Doede Hardeman, Head of Collections at the museum. Doede showed Esther the painting "Blue Rain," painted by Monet.

The premiere of Esther Wu's One Minute Symphony will be heard during Bruckner 9 on Friday, March 18 at 8 p.m. at Amare.
