More about Francisca

2023
I was about five years old when I first heard a violin, on a recording of Peter and the Wolf by Sergei Prokofiev. As soon as the first violins played the theme right at the beginning, my decision was quickly made. From that moment I knew I wanted to play the violin.
Conservatory of Amsterdam (bachelor's and master's) with Liviu Prunaru.
Glazunov, Ysaye, Debussy, Prokofiev
My instrument is by the Portuguese luthier Capela, namely Joaquim Capela, the third in the generation. When I got the call that my violin was ready, I remember playing it for several hours. I immediately fell in love with the compelling sound. The fact that it is a modern violin, never played before, allows me to shape the sound to my preference. Over the years, the instrument has developed a bright projection, which I find truly unique.
What do I like to listen to?
Usually I don't really listen to classical music unless I'm preparing for a new symphony or solo piece. But I prefer to listen to Portuguese and Brazilian songs. I enjoy everything from Luisa Sobral to João Gilberto. The list of songs and singers I appreciate is so extensive that it is almost impossible for me to name one in particular.
As for classical music, I often enjoy exploring lesser-known repertoire before a performance. Over the Last years, I have come across many pieces and recordings that hold a special place in my heart.
