More about Dorine
1992
Royal Conservatoire The Hague at Frans Vester.
I studied with Frans Vester at Royal Conservatoire The Hague in The Hague, who is still my greatest inspiration, as a flutist, but especially as a musician/musicologist: "how to approach music," "what is it all about. He was a pioneer in the field of performance practice, playing authentic instruments and a specialist in Mozart interpretation. I then developed myself further, playing in good ensembles, such as the Odeion wind ensemble, Fides Wind Quintet and the Amsterdam Bach Soloists. Played a lot in various Dutch orchestras, first job solo piccolo in the Netherlands Ballet Orchestra, then first flute. From 1992 I am solo piccolo of the Residentie Orkest, and am surrounded in it by a fantastic woodwind group.
What do I like to listen to?
Debussy - Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune, preferably by the Concertgebouw Orchestra with solo flautist Paul Verhey.
Ravel - Suite No. 2 from 'Daphnis et Chloe'
Telemann - 12 Fantasies for traverso (only by B. Kuijken)
The flute is at its best with the French impressionists, the color possibilities, floating between heaven and earth. The Fantasies by Telemann are a kind of ever-recurring pearl from the Baroque, just like the Bach Suites for cello, you can keep playing them your whole life, just keep discovering the puritanism, the essence. Furthermore, I really like string quartets, Beethoven, Haydn, Bartók but also Ravel and Debussy. Should I have several lives, it I will want to play a string instrument in the next life too, because of the fantastic repertoire.
