More about Dorian
At my high school (Gymnasium Haganum) there was a great lively school orchestra that I absolutely wanted to be in. There was a need for bassoonists, so the choice was quickly made (for me). The school had an instrument on loan and I immediately fell in love with the sonorous sound, not yet knowing that the bassoon's role in the orchestra also suited me very well. The bassoon, and the world that opened up to me with it, was the best thing that could have happened to me as an insecure adolescent.

Studied with Johan Steinmann (Royal Conservatoire The Hague), Brian Pollard, and prof Klaus Thunemann (Hochschule für Musik 'Hanns Eisler', Berlin).
Bach, Handel, Vivaldi, Mozart, Stravinsky, Shostakovich and Sibelius.
What do I like to listen to?
When I was about eight years old my father gave me a record by Glenn Gould, 'the little Bach book', I turned this record completely gray, this is where my love for music began. I like to listen to Zelenka's Trio Sonatas when I make reeds, it makes me happy and motivated. Christian Gerhaher sings Schubert's Abschied so beautifully. Eino Tamberg's Concerto Grosso, just a nice reminder of our wonderful time with Neeme Järvi. What great music. Carmen Linares, Cantinas, I got to play with her and have fond memories of her and the wonderful Cajon player (Antonio Coronel). As soon as I listen to Flamenco music my inner thunderclouds disappear and the sun shines, olé!
