What do I like to listen to?
Mahler - Symphony No. 2 by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra conducted by Riccardo Chailly. I was in the audience at this concert. I think it was the first time I had heard Mahler in a Concert Hall . The commitment and build-up of the chorus in the Last movement gave me goosebumps then - and still do -.
Rachmaninov - Piano Concerto No. 3 by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra conducted by Bernard Haitink and soloist Vladimir Ashkenazy. I played this work with the European Youth Orchestra and Ashkenazy as conductor in 2003 in St. Petersburg. That was an incredible experience.
Mozart - Clarinet Concerto with Sabine Meyer and the Berliner Philharmoniker. Mozart's Clarinet Concerto is one of the most beautiful works ever written. I have had the privilege of performing it a number of times, including with my previous orchestra - Phion (Het Gelders Orkest).
