Bassoon at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague with Louis Stotijn (former bassoonist of the Residentie Orkest) and Joep Terwey (former first bassoonist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra). He also studied contrabassoon with Guus Dral. In 1985 he received his diploma as Performing Musician. After this he substituted with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra for two years. In 1987 he joined the Residentie Orkest as double bassoonist and second bassoonist.

Besides being an orchestral musician, he works as a teacher at the CKC in Zoetermeer. He is also active in chamber music; together with pianist Esther Steffens he forms the duo "De zingende contrabassoon" . His repertoire includes arrangements of songs by various composers.
