Unfortunately, this concert has already taken place. But not to worry! We will be playing many more concerts soon.

Join us for an in-depth performance of Shostakovich's fascinating First Violin Concerto and Brahms' breathtaking First Symphony. Featuring conductor Lawrence Renes and artist in residence Simone Lamsma.

Shostakovich's First Violin Concerto is a perfect challenge for Lamsma, who always seeks adventure - from energetic and intense to small and intimate. This combined with Brahms' First Symphony. A special moment in music history, because after Beethoven's Ninth Symphony it seemed impossible to follow up this cycle of masterpieces. After nearly two decades of work on his First Symphony, Brahms has been able to provide proof that it has succeeded excellently.

Unfortunately, due to circumstances, our regular guest conductor Jun Märkl cannot come. We are delighted to have found an excellent replacement in conductor Lawrence Renes.

"Simone Lamsma navigates Shostakovich's complex scores with an intensely moving performance. The rich soundscape [...] reflects Lamsma's intense, emotionally driven energy."
