Unfortunately, this concert has already taken place. But not to worry! We will be playing many more concerts soon.
Discover Perasma, the new work by Calliope Tsoupaki, former Composer of the Fatherland. In addition, American violinist Stefan Jackiw plays Sibelius' fiery Violin Concerto and, finally, Anja Bihlmaier conducts a very personal symphony by Tchaikovsky.
Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony is known as his second "symphony of fate," in which the composer surrenders "completely" to fate and the unfathomable whims of providence. This produces downright fireworks. But it is also a work of languorous melodies and a magisterial finale, in which every cloud of thunder is blown away beyond the horizon.
