Magical Night

Magical Night is a spectacular symphonic feast that is just right for the time of year. The concert opens with the idyllic scene Waldweben from Wagner's opera "Siegfried. For this, Wagner is said to have gone into the forest to listen to the birds.
Then it's time for Elgar's lyrical, high-romantic Cello Concerto. One of the best-known concertos for cello and orchestra, performed tonight by Armenian soloist Narek Hakhnazaryan, who works here for the first time with conductor Nicholas Collon. As a finale, enjoy Khachatoerjan's Masquerade Suite: magical, wild and expressive, as music should be.
