Unfortunately, this concert has already taken place. But not to worry! We will be playing many more concerts soon.
The mastery of Brahms, the colorful of Stravinsky and the spectacular sounds of Walton - that is this concert in a nutshell. A concert in which we meet guest conductor Nuno Coelho for the first time. The much sought-after Nicolas Altstaedt joins as cello soloist.
The concert opens with a One Minute Symphony. Then over to Brahms' playful Haydn Variations followed by Walton's Cello Concerto. After years, this concerto is as fascinating as ever, full of rhythmic elasticity and incredible colors. As is Stravinsky's suite from "The Firebird" - one of his best-known works with which we end the evening. Colorful, virtuosic, exciting and outrageous.
