Symphony in the Park
Zuiderpark
summer concert
Every year, it’s a highlight of The Hague’s summer: classical music in Zuiderpark! The Residentie Orkest put together a wonderfully romantic program in which we give our fellow citizens a taste of the warmth, charm, and allure of classical music. The young British conductor Kerem Hasan will be leading the orchestra tonight.
Amid the lush summer greenery, we open with Weber’s colorful overture from the opera*Euryanthe*: a musical world that begins in darkness and slowly brightens with melodious tension and dramatic brilliance. This is followed by Tchaikovsky’s triumphantFifth Symphony, a work of passionate longing. The somber opening, the dancing middle sections, and the glorious finale together form a single grand emotional arc. A symphony that blew the audience away at its premiere and has since become one of the orchestra’s most beloved works. Young and old, connoisseurs and newcomers alike: The Hague celebrates music in the park.
The Zuiderpark Summer Concert is part of Symphony 2030 – RO in the city, an initiative of the Residentie Orkest. Under the banner RO in the city , the orchestra RO in the city young and old, local residents, and the city through the power of music.
