Symphony in the Park
South Park
summer concert
Immerse yourself in an enchanting evening of music and love, embraced by the city. Take a seat in the park among your fellow city dwellers, and discover how light-hearted, dramatic and flirtatious classical music can be. The Zuiderparkzomerconcert brings all of The Hague together in the heart of summer.
Today the park is dedicated to romance and drama. Tchaikovsky wrote his Overture fantasy about the world's most famous love couple, Romeo and Juliet. With the expansive sounds of cor anglais and violas, you can feel a restless longing awakening, while the horns, heartbreakingly sighing, let their counter voice be heard - a melody you can drown in. Before it, your heart is also happily enlightened, with the traditionally playful Hungarian sounds of Zoltán Kodály with his masterpiece Dances from Galanta and, as an opening, Dvořák's vibrant Carnival sounds. Conductor Kerem Hasan connects generations and musical styles this evening under the sultry Hague summer sky.
The South Park Summer Concert is part of Symphony 2030 - RO in the city, an initiative of the Residentie Orkest. Under the banner RO in the city , the orchestra connects young and old, local residents and the city with the power of music.
