Our concertmaster Wouter Vossen meets the special jazz pianist and composer Rembrandt Frerichs in the Nieuwe Kerk . They will perform the classics of chamber music: Mozart's Adagio & Fugue and Haydn's Symphony No. 94. These pieces will accompany the world premiere of Frerich's Third Piano Concerto . Our fellow citizen is known for his idiosyncratic music, with innovative style combinations - from jazz to classical.

This is how it combines Residentie Orkest the new with the familiar; we like to keep our audience on their toes. The choice of Symphony No. 94 is therefore no coincidence. The famous 'surprise' that the great Austrian incorporated in it to startle the audience betrays the composer's sense of humour. Grieg's Last Lente precedes it, and evokes a playful but at times fairy-tale image of melting snow.
