Unfortunately, this concert has already taken place. But not to worry! We will be playing many more concerts soon.

Immerse yourself in symphonic music tonight, with a shot of Poulenc. During RO NOW, get to know top works, and give your weekend a special twist. Each edition, the conductor briefly tells you more about the piece for a deeper musical experience. Tonight the focus is on the relationship between choir and orchestra. Discover how chilling, how heavenly and how subdued singing together can be.

Tonight you will hear two opposite works. No one escapes fate in Brahms' riveting Schicksalslied. But the consolation after this comes straight from eternal paradise in a piece sometimes called the cathedral of choral literature: Poulenc's Gloria . This complex and breathtaking work takes you to dizzying heights. Conductor Jun Märkl explains how composers process instruments and singing, where they collide and where they sound in harmony. A whole new way to learn about the classical masters!
