Gustav Mahler did not live to see its performance, and the Ninth Symphony was the Last work he completed. It is considered by connoisseurs to be the final piece of the Romantic movement. This is a movement known for its intricate constructions, new use of instruments and the deepening of the human emotional world.
All this is also very characteristic of Mahler, who wrote personal work, and was always in search of the outer limits of his craft - without overstepping them. In short: in search of the sublime, which forces the listener to let go of a part of himself. This monumental Last composition by Mahler is conducted by one of our favorite guest conductors: the Dutch Antony Hermus, principal conductor of the Belgian National Orchestra.
