Unfortunately, this concert has already taken place. But not to worry! We will be playing many more concerts soon.

The acoustics of the Nieuwe Kerk bring out the full qualities of our string orchestra. Compelling sounds that take us, first of all, to the United States of 1893. Dvořák wrote his magnificent Third String Quintet there during the time he was working in New York. You can hear the vibrancy of the city, even then a metropolis full of hope and opportunity, reflected in his writing laced with Dvořák's typical Bohemianism. You may even experience some of the festive romanticism the composer incorporated into it.

Wouter Vossen, since 2018 concertmaster at the Residentie Orkest, leads the musical journey further. This time a little closer to home, with Souvenir de Florence. Written during a visit to the city by Russian great Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, who was inspired by the city's cultural wealth. Russian folk music influences can also be heard in this world-famous string sextet, with a distinctive, folkloric nimbleness in rhythm and tone.
