Unfortunately, this concert has already taken place. But not to worry! We will be playing many more concerts soon.

During this concert, pianist Vadym Kholodenko is filling in for Joyce Yang, who unfortunately cannot come to The Hague due to an injury to her hand. We are delighted that this top pianist can replace Yang on this short notice.

An evening of Italian refinement, temperament, and well ... the requisite drama. Conductor Valentina Peleggi brings from her homeland the Preludio Sinfonico by opera composer Giacomo Puccini. Full of complex harmonies, romanticism and inventiveness. Romantic it remains, with Edvard Grieg, who gave the score of the Piano Concerto to Liszt in Rome. This encounter was "of infinite significance," Grieg himself said of it. Finally, Romeo and Juliet by Prokoviev. A love that was not to be.

Glee combined with plaintiveness and passion is what you will take home with you this evening. Lightening of the heart, smothered declarations of love and dramatic endings. The Italian narrative combines deep wisdom with youthful bravado with ease. It is tailor-made for Peleggi, who makes his debut at the Residentie Orkest with this versatile repertoire. You will also hear Vadym Kholodenko at the piano, tonight for the first time at the Residentie Orkest. This frequently awarded, internationally recognized pianist from Ukraine is known for his refined sound, consummate virtuosity and poetic interpretations.

One Minute Symphony
Composition student Ellis Howarth sought inspiration for his One Minute Symphony at the Art Museum. Here he spoke to Doede Hardeman, the museum's Head of Collections, about the painter Jan Toorop's work "Trio Fleuri. The work of art appeared to highlight different sides, both joy and also sadness and melancholy. This is something Ellis would like to reflect in his work.

"Kholodenko is without a doubt an exceptional artist"
