Atmospheric, subdued, intimate. A concert at the Nieuwe Kerk will stay with you forever. The phenomenal acoustics add an extra dimension to the chamber music concerts at the Residentie Orkest . Join us on an uninterrupted journey past beautifully sounding musical works in a historic setting. Each concert features a special musical theme. Tonight, top violinist Shunske Sato returns to the Residentie Orkest with eighteenth-century Viennese classics.
A little composer used to travel to Vienna. The place to be for musicians. Music history was written there for centuries. For example, by Mozart. Seventeen years old, he wrote his brilliant First Violin Concerto. Haydn also set the tone with his theatrical Farewell Symphony. The performance invariably ends in a work interruption. Musicians grab their parts during the Last movement and disappear. A protest against the annual mandatory move back then. The versatile Shunske Sato also brings violin virtuoso Von Dittersdorf and pupil Vanhal. These also belonged in Vienna. Fun fact: tonight's composers played string quartets together.
